OUR PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO EQUIPMENT
CAMERAS:
Canon EOS 7D
All around, this is one of the best cameras we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. As described by Canon, since its introduction, the Canon EOS 7D has become one of the most popular DSLRs among serious photographers and professionals.
With a host of features designed to enhance every facet of the photographic process, from high resolution still images to video, the EOS 7D represents an advanced class of camera.
Made to be the tool of choice for many, the EOS 7D features an 18.0 Megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor and Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors, capturing tremendous images at up to ISO 12800 and speeds of up to 8.0 fps.
The EOS 7D has an all cross-type 19-point AF system with improved AI Servo AF subject tracking and user-selectable AF area selection modes for sharp focus no matter the situation.
The EOS 7D’s Intelligent Viewfinder provides 100% coverage and displays user-selected AF modes as well as a spot metering circle and on-demand grid lines. iFCL Metering with 63-zone dual-layer metering system uses both focus and color information to provide accurate exposure, even in difficult lighting. The EOS 7D also captures Full HD video at 30p (29.97 fps), 24p (23.976 fps) and 25p with an array of manual controls, including manual exposure during video shooting and ISO speed selection.
GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition
This is our go-to camera for shooting creative out-of-the-ordinary videos with unique perspectives and wide angles. This small, lightweight, virtually indestructible and shock-proof camera can be mounted in awkward places, allowing you to capture the most extraordinary of shots. Its high-resolution, high-frame rate 1440p48, 1080p60, 960p100 and 720p120 video modes result in professional quality footage and allow for liquid-smooth slow motion playback. 4Kp15 and 2.7Kp30 enable ultra high-resolution, cinema quality capture.
Canon EOS Rebel XTi
This is the additional Canon we use in case we need to use two cameras for a shoot. Although it is an older model, the Rebel XTi still offers an unbeatable combination of performance, ease-of-use and value. It features a 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 2.5-inch LCD monitor, the exclusive EOS Integrated Cleaning System, and Canon’s Picture Style technology; all in a lightweight, ergonomic body.
LENSES:
Canon EF-S 18-135mm Lens
This is our go-to lens for most of our shots. The high quality optics and image stabilization give really crisp, vibrant images. This lens has the ability to get everything in focus, and with the high ISO of the 7D, there is no need for a wide aperture lens due to low light problems. We also use this lens in the studio with the Profoto lights when taking product shots and portraits.
We also have lenses that emphasize bokeh. What is bokeh?
Bokeh is an aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image, usually behind the subject. We have two lenses that emphasize bokeh: the Canon f2.8, 100mm and the Canon f1.4, 50mm:
Canon f1.4, 50mm Lens
Ideal for low light and portraits. This lens has one of the shallowest depths of field. If you were to take a picture of an object, only a small plane of the shot would be in focus. This is perfect for emphasizing just the important part of the picture, making this a very expressive and artistic lens.
Canon f2.8, 100mm Macro Lens
This macro can uncover detail the eye could never see. The 2.8 f-stop combined with zoom produces a very nice blur ‘bokeh’ behind the subject. This lens is perfect for food photography. In addition, we use this lens for a lot of our nature photography.
Canon 10-17mm Fisheye Lens
The fisheye perspective is super wide. Although there are not a lot of practical applications for this, it can be used for interior shots that are very enclosed, allowing you to get the foreground elements that would not be available in the shot from other lenses. Sometimes it can be appropriate for portraits that call for an edgy or strange perspective, such as a band photo.
STUDIO LIGHTS:
Profoto Studio Kit
We use industry leading Profoto lights in the studio. These lights, combined with our umbrellas, softboxes, and other light shaping modifiers produce an image of fine detail that has balanced and controlled light. For product shots, nothing compares to studio photography where detail and complete control of the lighting are crucial. Because studio photography can often uncover too much detail, softboxes and other modifiers produce diffused light that have a pleasing quality on skin.
BACKDROPS:
We have Black, Grey, and White Muslin Sheets for portrait and product photography.
